The Town of Oakville contracted with Maple Reinders to construct a new Public Works/Parks Operations facility on a new site. The new building consolidated several operations into one central location that is operated more efficiently.
The consolidated facility includes maintenance garage workshops, maintenance yard, storage depot, central office and dispatch, truck scale, receiving facilities, central stores, tool cribs, salt domes, fueling and employee facilities.
Operations and layout were designed for optimum traffic flow and enhance cost efficiency, consistent with the functional building program. The construction incorporated leading edge concepts to enhance operational efficiencies and vehicular circulation such as high and long span bays, stanchion mounted fume extraction system, skylights, translucent overhead doors and clerestory glass.
The facility consists of 23,433 SF of office space, while 77,112 SF is dedicated to the fleet garage, storage, workshops and operations garage. The existing pre-engineered buildings were also renovated and expanded. New construction included the new vehicle and equipment storage garage, constructed adjacent to the other facilities.
