Nationwide Self-Storage – Kamloops

Nationwide Self-Storage’s latest establishment in Kamloops, British Columbia, was successfully constructed by Maple Reinders, with a noteworthy addition of an environmentally friendly Car Wash facility.

The self-storage facility boasts a substantial size of 64,559 square feet, spanning across three stories and accommodating 450 storage units. Furthermore, there is ample space for potential future expansion, allowing for the addition of over 800 units, including sky lockers. The foundation system utilized conventional strip and pad footings, with the basement serving as the complete ground level. The above-grade structure comprises structural steel, accompanied by metal decks and concrete toppings. While the interior finishes are limited to the office area and bathrooms on each level, the remaining sections of the building will be relatively bare, featuring concrete floors and exposed ceilings. The installation of lockers in these areas will be handled by a subcontractor employed by the Owner. To ensure a well-sealed building envelope, insulated metal panels (IMP) were employed, in addition to a precast panel system complemented by a curtain wall.

In contrast to the storage building, the car wash facility’s foundations consist of concrete footings and a slab-on-grade (SOG). Notably, the precast panels used for the car wash serve a structural purpose, providing stability and strength to the facility.
