Work on this project involved an addition to Conestoga’s existing and occupied freezer facility, including a 23,000 SF staging area addition as well as 20,000 SF high-rise freezer addition standing at 110’ high. The freezer area allows for an additional 7,000 pallets for storing product while the staging area is for the loading docks with four overhead doors and a shipping office.
Work on this project had to be completed while the rest of the facility remained fully operational. Other special features of construction included:
Once compost is placed in the tunnels, they are sealed and oxygen is added through an aerated floor grid to promote biological activity.
Award of this project was a result of Maple Reinders preparing a Storm Water Management Report (SWMR) and preliminary design services for Congebec’s freezer building expansion.

Maple Reinders undertook the Phase 2 and 3 extensions to their existing facility in Calgary. Which included construction of the 134,000 SF freezer/cold storage warehouse utilized reinforced concrete strip footings and pads, structural steel, insulated metal panels, SBS roofing.
A new access road was built for trucks to two new dock levelers, including new approach and gate access and the south parking lot expansion for trailer and truck parking.
